Senior Electrical Engineer

The primary role of the Senior Electrical Engineer is to lead development and design of closed loop position control systems, both analog and digital, for electro-mechanical actuators in aerospace applications. This includes control system analysis and simulation using Matlab / Simulink and design of resultant electronic controls, including component selection to meet environmental and reliability requirements. Systems typically use ARIN-429/CAN/RS-232/422/485 serial communications. Role also includes integration of the control system into the hydraulic system electrical and avionic interfaces on the aircraft.

Duties And Responsibilities:

1. Create plans and documentation in compliance with customer specifications and industry regulations (DO254, etc.)
2. Lead hardware development, design and implementation efforts as per plan. Manage documentation of all hardware activities. Interface with internal and external hardware/software resources as appropriate. Participate in reliability, maintainability, and safety engineering efforts as appropriate.
3. Lead hardware integration and verification efforts as per plan. Interface with production test to ensure delivered products are testable during production.
4. Create and institutionalize new processes, modify existing processes, to satisfy industry standards for electrical hardware design and implementation (CMMI, etc.).
5. Participate in the selection and deployment of the engineering software / hardware tools and processes, such as CAD, PDM and other analysis tools.
6. Achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
7. Collaborate with peers and managers to improve efficiency and reduce cost for component development and detailing. Work with offshore, contracted, and other off-site design support personnel as required.
8. Become familiar with electronics design software and tools introduced by the department.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications/Educational Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; Masters desired.
* 5 years minimum experience in designing electrical components and systems. 7-10 years preferred.
* Experience with OrCAD Schematics Capture required.
* Experience with Altera Quartus II required.
* Familiarity with design subject to DO-254 and DO-160E standards required.
* Experience with Mathworks Matlab / Simulink required.
* Thorough knowledge of electrical engineering disciplines for product design and development required.
* Experience developing systems that interface with various sensors, including LVDTs, RVDTs, pressure sensors, shut-off valves, servo valves, temp sensors, etc.
* Experience with Telelogic DOORS requirements management tools.
* Knowledge of industry practices and norms, design tools and techniques will be a plus.
* Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication presentation skills and the ability to work well with customers and development team members.
