Description:

Company is looking to fill their open Senior Aerospace Engineer position to
serve as PI on R&D programs. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and
test a variety of aerospace systems and components; Independently apply
solutions of large scope and complexity, and competently performs and solve
complex and involved assignments; understand completely and apply
principles, concepts, practices and standards, with a full and competent
knowledge of engineering, industry and company practices.

Looking for someone who is excited about working in the space industry and
wants to work on projects of significance. Someone who enjoys a challenge
and likes working on a variety of projects in a fast paced environment. US
Person and have the ability to pass a security clearance if required.

The ideal candidate will perform the following duties:

Description of Duties:

. Continue to develop technical excellence in required specialty
. Lead a team of 5-15 persons to perform the design, analysis and
realization of a product of moderate complexity.
. Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and
validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for
total systems
. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product
requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical,
schedule, and cost constraints
. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade
studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to
translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
. Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems
. Represent organization to both internal and external customers on
specific projects/teams
. Make design recommendations and set baselines based on trade
studies, analysis, and design reviews
. Prepare periodic reports, presentations, and records on project
activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or
outside agencies
. Provide technical advice and problem solving assistance to staff
. Propose new internal research and development projects that support
strategic goals or reduce risk of current programs
. Identify opportunities and author proposals for technology
development or product development that aligns with company strategic goals
. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

. Knowledge and experience on aerospace/defense projects from
requirements definition to build and test, in at least one of the following
discipline areas: Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) Component
Hardware or System Design, Thermal Control Component Hardware or System
Design, or Regenerative Fuel Cells
. Demonstrated technical ability to perform engineering analysis in at
least one the following areas: three phase heat transfer, sublimation heat
transfer, high temperature material / mechanical design, solid oxide
electrochemical devices, or membrane technologies for hydration or
separation
. Recognition among peers in industry as competent and thorough, as
evidenced by published work or other relevant technical publications.
. Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures
. Knowledge of equipment and systems appropriate to related discipline

. Knowledge of proposal process
. Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting for proposals
. Knowledge and proficiency in job required software applications
. Skill in applying engineering principles and procedures
. Skill in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
. Skill in engineering design applications
. Ability to break down large engineering tasks into discrete tasks
for less senior engineering personnel
. Ability to rely on experience and use sound judgment to plan and
accomplish work
. Ability to quickly evaluate Junior Engineers designs and concepts
and provide expert advice that will enhance the resulting designs
. Ability to conduct training both on the job and classroom training
for junior engineers
. Ability to effectively communicate in both written and spoken form.
Proven ability to author papers, technical memos or other technical
communication (not PowerPoint)
. Ability to serve as project lead or project manager
. Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work
relationships; have creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness; have
discriminating judgment, tact and sense of humor
. Ability to write specifications and reports
Minimum Qualifications:
. Masters degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering or
equivalent field and at least 8 years with system and /or flight/operational
hardware development experience in the aerospace/defense industry OR
. PhD degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering or
equivalent field and 5-10 years with system and /or hardware development
experience in the aerospace/defense industry.
