Sr. Systems Engineer
A position with a well established business offering professional development and technical opportunity on a major Army Aviation and Air Force contracts in support of Army, Air Force, and Navy aircraft modification programs. Responsible for providing a wide range of Systems Engineering expertise associated with the design, analysis, integration and test of aircraft avionics systems. A strong electrical background is required, along with a system level understanding of mechanical engineering.
Applies engineering principles and tools to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate aviation weapon systems and commercial derivative aircraft; review and prepare system engineering and technical analyses, specifications, reports, engineering change proposals, and other technical documentation. Applies system engineering experience to support other program functions such as system integration, manufacturing, design assurance testing, configuration management, quality inspections and management.
Position will require the ability to evaluate commercially available “black box” components and develop an integrated solution/conceptual architecture, that meets contractually defined functional and performance requirements, and applicable military and industry standards. The individual in this position will be required to capture the results of this activity in a succinct written fashion, to support proposals or required analyses.
Specific examples of products required of position include the performance of engineering analyses to include Airworthiness Certification, Electrical Loads Analysis, Failure Modes Analyses and other system design level analyses. Support of System Safety analyses, stress& loads, weight and balance and other analyses will be required.
II. Basic Requirements
Must have understanding of aviation communications, navigation, sensor, control and display, avionics and aircraft electrical systems, architecture, design, integration, and evaluation. Must have knowledge and experience gaining airworthiness certification with Military and Federal Aviation Administration authorities. Must be proficient with engineering design tools in support of design and integration projects such as AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools such as Pro/Engineering.
Must have working knowledge of MIL-STD-810; MIL-STD-461,462,464, MIL-STD-1553, and ARINC429
Familiarity with SAE-AS50881 aircraft wiring/routing and associated SAE-AS, MIL-SPEC standards
BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics is REQUIRED. MS preferred.
Six+ (6-8) years' experience with a minimum of 4 years in aviation REQUIRED.
